How many cases of regime violations vs the number of real recidivism clearly shows the affect of additional burden to the courts. Of course it helps the registry regime cases are predominantly “slam, bam, thank you ma’am” and thus quickly disposed of. If this former sheriff has any balls left, he will opt for trial.

“….failed to inform the Murfreesboro Police Department Sex Offender Registry coordinator and did he report his visit to Florida authorities.”
Sorry, is that a question? Nor would the author be asking me if she knew how to use the word “nor”. Nor was it the only error in the article. I guess they don’t not teach no one any good English in Tennessee. 🙃

Tim even the black dude I run around with once in a while is a profession photographer showed me his papers when I was up at his house, Had to cross one of the blue ridge mt. entrances…. showed he his warrant to appear in court on a DV .. domestic violence charge and he even told me he had an unregistered gun. While I’m sure domestic is a crime I don’t think its bad as this registry issue that many are going thru.

Sure I left after the guy from CA told me I think its best you leave and walk down the street. Guess situations like that can come up. Wasn’t my intention to tell them about my past ordeal. I’ll find out more from mine friend jack which was the fourth person… He owns a hobby model shop in the city of Staunton, VA He is sim- retired and I usually like to chat with him for a while. See I don’t even know if one is allowed to go on Federal land such as the Blue Ridge..

Tim in WI you have a point there. Many tri-state area’s are very bad in and of themself. And yes I have been to the Great Smokey Mountains.

It was pretty stupid on his part to not report his travel to the Tennessee authorities, but still report to the Florida ones. Not endorsing it, but if he hadn’t reported to Florida, the whole trip would likely have gone unnoticed. Assuming that he didn’t break any other law in Florida at the time.

Also, I couldn’t help but notice that the article was more interested in his original offenses than his current charge. Another indication that the registry is ore about revisiting previous offenses than preventing new ones (as if it could prevent new ones in the first place).

As a former cop turned
registrant he should of known the laws in Tennessee like the back of his hand.
Obviously this guy had been living his life above the law for so long who knows how narcissistically Arrogant he really was BUT sending someone to prison for traveling out of state for two weeks is crazy.
All i can say is comply with whatever rules you initialed your name next to because you don’t wanna end up in Pelican Bay State prison for some stupid FTR technicality

stay focused

Just to be clear, he was on probation, so I really don’t have too much sympathy for him. His bigger problem, however, is that Florida can now get a warrant to arrest him for breaking THEIR law, and at the very least he will be on Florida’s sex offender registry for the rest of his life, plus a year.

He’s crazy, he should have just kept moving location until he was going to go back or lied about when he arrived. This shit is ridiculous. Never give out information and he’s an ex cop he should have known better.
